Big Brother Big Sister Program

Transform lives by engaging and mentoring children. Become a Big Brother or Big Sister, contribute towards a child’s development and take home fulfilling memories.

Research suggests that one-to-one mentoring enables at-risk youth overcome several challenges. Children are less likely to fall prey to vices, skip school and classes or engage in acts of violence. They have greater self-esteem, confidence in their schoolwork performance and can get along better with their friends and families.

Anybody can become a mentor. All you need is a willingness to be a friend, have fun and see the world through the eyes of a young person. As a mentor, you participate in activities with the child such as playing sports, watching a movie, cooking, doing homework, visiting a museum, washing the car, taking a walk, volunteering in the community or just hanging out.

A Big Brother or Big Sister opens infinite possibilities for a young person simply by being a genuine friend. Volunteers offer children one-on-one quality time and attention in their communities, typically two to four times a month. During these informal outings, they cultivate relationships that provide children with the skills to manage every day challenges.

If you wish to volunteer, we will match your interests with those of a child, so you both develop a mutually rewarding friendship.

This program provides for an underprivileged child's living expenses, including education. This initiative offers you an opportunity to develop a one-to-one relationship with a child. Please see the break-down. Your sponsorship will provide the following:

• Daily balance nutritional diet including daily supplement
• Regular health and dental check-ups
• Curing minor but chronic health problems
• Personal hygiene education and provision of daily toiletries
• Identification of health problems requiring specialist care
• Personal clothing including hats and shoes
• Additional education facilities and training aides
• Provide higher education of students deemed applicable

As a sponsor, you will be closely involved with the child’s development. You will receive a profile of the child along with a photograph. You will correspond and meet the child. Also, you will get regular updates on the progress of the child, including his/her education.
